Among the Italian mountain railways, the Spoleto-Norcia, designed in 1912, was a daring, difficult undertaking, almost a work of railway art.Nestled among the Apennines, but due to altitude characteristics considered an Alpine railway, the Spoleto-Norcia was a real engineering jewel: in just 51 kilometers there were 19 tunnels, including that of Caprareccia pass almost 2 kilometers long, 24 bridges and viaducts helical stretches, slopes up to 45 per thousand!A real artistic and landscape heritage abandoned for too many years, which has finally returned to shine in 2014.
